Welcome to Piedmont Public Schools-- Home of the Wildcats!
Piedmont Public Schools is dedicated to its mission: Empowering students to succeed in a changing world. Every student. Every day. Many families move to Piedmont, Oklahoma to take advantage of the opportunities at Piedmont Schools, which are consistently rated among the top in the state, with strong test scores, impressive graduation and attendance rates, and a plethora of extra-curricular sports and activities for students to participate. The Piedmont School district covers 96 square miles in Canadian, Kingfisher and Oklahoma Counties. While considered a suburb of Oklahoma City, our boundaries reach west to rural Okarche, south to suburban Yukon, north to rural Cashion and east to the metropolitan Oklahoma City. In addition to the impressive school system, families enjoy the bonus of the small town atmosphere of town festivals and parades, tight-knit community organizations and that “everybody knows your name” feel.
Named the third fastest growing community in Oklahoma by the American Community Survey, Piedmont Schools currently serve 4,100 students at seven school sites. Student enrollment has increased 41% since 2012. With this significant growth comes the challenge of needing additional classroom space, adequate athletic facilities and safe shelter areas for our students. In 2016, voters overwhelmingly approved a $71 million bond issue to provide an Early Childhood Center, additional classrooms/safe rooms at Northwood Elementary, cafeteria and gymnasium at Piedmont Elementary, additional classrooms/safe rooms, science labs, commons areas and cafeteria at Piedmont High School, and facility air-conditioning upgrades. Students will also benefit from several athletic facility upgrades, including an artificial turf field and new track at the newly renamed F&M Bank Stadium. Softball, baseball, cheer, pom and band will see upgrades, as well. In addition, voters approved a second proposal to provide twelve air-conditioned buses.
Dedicated teachers, staff, and administrators strive to provide each and every student an education rooted in excellence and focused on visionary, progressive practices. Piedmont’s commitment to student success is evident in the academic achievement of its students each year. Learning is authentic and intentional, with real world application through technology, STEM labs and collaboration centers. Teachers at all levels provide challenging educational opportunities for students focused on critical thinking, collaboration and creativity.
Primary and Elementary classrooms utilize i-Pad and Chromebook devices for small group and independent supplementary instruction. Middle school and high school students are provided a Google Chromebook laptop for home and school use. Intermediate students have access to a device in all core subject classes throughout the day. Furthermore, Apple labs provide access to applications and processes expected in post-secondary educational environments and the twenty-first century workplace.
Piedmont Schools understands the importance of extra-curricular activities for our students and community. Student athletes have opportunities to compete in a variety of competitive sports—PHS is home to over twenty sports teams! Additionally, the Pride of Piedmont continues its tradition of state-wide distinction for student musicians. Vocal, theater arts, Student Council and other sponsored clubs and groups provide rich opportunities for students to develop and hone performance, character and leadership abilities.
The strong connection between a devoted school staff, well-informed and involved parents and an unwavering, supportive community have afforded the students of the district the enduring support system necessary for cultivating knowledge and preparing for the future.
