Bond Projects-- Update

 

Indoor Athletic Facility/Track/Turf

Soccer, baseball, softball, football and track teams will utilize new indoor space for locker rooms and training programs.  Artificial turf and a new track will provide safe surfaces for our student-athletes.

Band Uniforms

The award-winning band students will have all band uniforms replaced.  

**Update** Project complete.  Band students will debut the new uniforms Fall of 2018.

School Buses

12 new school buses will be purchased to update existing fleet.

Air Conditioners

New air conditioners will be purchased to replace existing units.

**Update** 20 air-conditioners were purchased to replace existing units at three school campuses.

Early Childhood Center

To accommodate the growth of our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs, a new Early Childhood Education Center, located at the intersection of Memorial Road and Mustang Road, will provide 36 classrooms and FEMA certified safe rooms.  All district pre-k and kindergarten students will attend this state of the art center created especially for our youngest Wildcats!

**Update** Block work is approximately 2/3 complete. The store front and glass installation has been scheduled and curbing for the roof units are on site. This will allow for decking to be installed on the roof. The building continues to move forward at a very steady pace. 

 

Initial Estimated Cost:  $14,573,560

Accepted Bid:  $12,918,000

High School Renovation & Addition

The renovation and expansion of our high school will provide 38 additional classrooms (10 of them being Science labs), a Home Economics classroom, new Special Education classroom, new and expanded cafeteria, media center, computer lab, video recording studio, concurrent lounge, weight room, Pom and Cheer practice room, FEMA certified safe rooms, additional parking, offices and hallway space.  Students will enjoy a technology-rich learning environment.

**Update** Crews have poured the stem walls in the safe room area. Waterproofing has been scheduled, this will allow for the french drains to be installed. Removal of the packing units and demolition have been scheduled. 

 

Initial Estimated Cost:  $18,644,500

Accepted Bid:  $17,670,500

 

Northwood Elementary Addition

Six new classrooms will replace modular temporary classrooms.  Classrooms will be FEMA certified safe rooms.  

**Update** Crews have installed the interior steel structure for the roof. The framing crews are working on the area between the existing building and new structure. The brick masons will start the exterior brick and stone work. The roof decking has been scheduled.  

 

Initial Estimated Cost:  $2,250,000

Piedmont Elementary Gym & Cafeteria

A new gymnasium, concession area, and music room will replace the dilapidated and unsafe Simpson gym. The new cafeteria will provide daily breakfast and lunch to our Piedmont Elementary students. Students and the community will benefit from the FEMA certified shelter.

**Update**  W.L. McNatt has mobilized on site. They will begin demoing the asphalt and will be getting utilities moved.

Baseball & Softball Complex

A new baseball and softball complex will be located behind the Piedmont High School.  Current fields will be used for middle school programs.

Additional Construction Costs

Additional construction costs expected to be incurred include design and construction contingencies, site development, architectural and engineering fees, permits, furniture and equipment, soil testing, fees, etc.
