October is National Bully Prevention Month. The students will be learning throughout the month how to recognize what bullying is, strategies to use if they are being bullied and how to be an "upstander" not a bystander.

The program that is used with students in Grades 3 and 4 is called Steps To Respect. It is a research based program that is recommended by the state department. The PTO purchased it for me and I'm really grateful.

The definition of bullying that the students learn at Piedmont Elementary is:

Bullying is unfair and one sided. It happens when someone keeps frightening, threatening, hurting or leaving someone out on purpose.
