Student Headed to U.S. Naval Academy

Zachary Swindell has been accepted into the United States Naval Academy. "I've been planning on attending service academy since 6th grade and want to serve to fulfill my civic obligation," said Swindell. Zach will be the first in his family to go to the Navy. Several factors went into his decision to go to USNA including their USNA High School Junior summer program, the Naval Academy summer seminar, and the perse career opportunities that the Navy provides.

According to U.S. News and World Report, on average the USNA has an acceptance rate of 9%. Of last year's 17,043 applicants, 1,355 were offered an appointment. The mission statement of the USNA

is "To develop Midshipmen morally, mentally and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty in order to graduate leaders who are dedicated to a career of naval service and have potential for future development in mind and character to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship and government."

Induction day (report day) is June 29th. He will major in Economics and begin his journey to become a Naval Aviator.
