Piedmont Public Schools was named Business of the Year at the annual Piedmont Chamber of Commerce Banquet, Saturday evening. The annual award goes to a business that has made outstanding contributions to the economy and overall progress of the Piedmont area. With a $23 million yearly budget, 350 employees and more than 4,100 customers (or students as we call them), Piedmont Schools definitely makes a significant impact on the community. The award was accepted by all PPS employees in attendance.

The Chamber also celebrated our seven site Teachers of the Year by spotlighting their accomplishment with a special introduction. Mrs. Teri Clark, Mrs. Julie Utley, Mrs. Cathy Adams, Mrs. Annette Villines, Mrs. Traci North, Mrs. Rhonda Herring and Mrs. Joy Ruiz represented their fellow educators well.

A special highlight of the evening was our own Dr. James White, Superintendent of Piedmont Schools, receiving the Piedmont Chamber of Commerce President's Award from Chamber President, Mr. Bobby Williamson. Mr. Williamson shared, "I have a lot of respect for this person because he is always raising the bar and achieving. This person does not take credit for the good things that happen, but is always giving the credit to his staff."
